Rental Property Tax Organizer | Excel + Google Sheets Tracker for Expenses, Escrow & Tax Bill Increases
Keep your rental property records organized throughout the year with editable Excel and Google Sheets versions built for landlords. Track income and expenses, stay on top of property tax bills and escrow, and see how each property’s tax bill changed from the previous year.
Your original ZIP download includes the editable Excel workbook and a START HERE guide. A separate Rental_Tax_Organizer_Google_Sheets_Access.pdf is also included with a link to make your own editable Google Sheets copy. Use Microsoft Excel for the .xlsx file or a Google account for Google Sheets. Software and accounts are not included.
You enter transactions, tax bills, and receipt references yourself; the workbook organizes those records and calculates its summaries and comparisons.
WHAT’S INCLUDED

- Transaction log with editable categories and receipt reference fields
- Property tax bill tracker for escrow, payments, and receipts
- Year-over-year tax bill comparison with dollar and percentage changes

The workbook provides 500 transaction rows and 100 tax bill rows.
TRACK THE DETAILS THAT MATTER
For each property tax bill or installment, record the tax year, due date, bill amount, escrow available, payment date and amount, payment method, check number or online authorization number, and where you saved the receipt. A status column points out payment or receipt details that still need attention.
The year-end comparison adds bills entered for each property and shows the change from the previous tax year. The percentage stays blank until both years have bill amounts entered.
HOW TO
GET STARTED
1. Download and unzip the file. 2. Open the workbook in Microsoft Excel, or open the separate Google Sheets access PDF and follow its link to Make a copy in your own Google Drive. The master is view-only. 3. On the Setup page, choose your tax year and replace “Property 1” with your own property name or address. 4. Enter transactions and tax bills as they occur. 5.
Review the year-end totals and tax bill comparison.
PLEASE NOTE
This is a record organizer for Excel or Google Sheets, not tax filing software. The versions do not sync; choose one main working version. Keep the supplied rows and formulas intact; use another copy when full. It does not scan receipts or automatically turn them into entries; you enter your records and save receipt references yourself.
Tax bills do not automatically become expense transactions, helping you review how each payment should be recorded. Use the separate Review type for items that need a tax preparer’s attention.
